Downhole tools
A mud motor turns the bit with the flow of drilling fluid, so the string itself does not have to rotate the whole time.
A positive-displacement mud motor is a downhole drive. Drilling fluid pumped down the drill pipe turns a rotor inside a stator, and that rotation is delivered to the bit. Directional and horizontal wells use motors so the driller can slide or rotate as the well path requires. A measurement tool is often run with the motor. It is a separate instrument, and it is named separately on the order.

A performance figure is published only when a datasheet is attached.
