Casing
The pipe that lines the well, and what it takes to cement it
Casing holds the hole open and, once cemented, isolates the formations behind it. Tubing inside the casing is the path for production. Centralizers stand the casing off the wall so cement can travel all the way round. Float shoes and collars are the check valves that stop that cement coming back up the pipe. The wellhead hangs these strings and holds the surface pressure.
- API Spec 5CT is the usual tubular specification when you name it.
- The centralizer photograph is a bow-spring type.
- Wellheads are quoted to API Spec 6A when required. A wellhead photograph is not on the site yet.
