Capability

Drill bits

Edatm supplies the bit that cuts the formation, and the tools that open the hole out afterwards.

Bits

The tool that fails the rock

A PDC bit shears the formation with diamond cutters on a carbide substrate. A roller-cone bit crushes and gouges it with three cones, either milled steel teeth or tungsten-carbide inserts. The formation and the run decide which one is bought. Both photographs we publish are PDC bits. A roller-cone enquiry is still welcome. It will not be illustrated with a PDC picture presented as the other tool.

  • Hole size and connection first.
  • Formation as you know it, even if the description is short.
  • Hole openers are a different tool, for enlarging a hole already drilled.

Choose

PDC or roller cone

We will follow the customer's drilling programme. We do not pick a bit from a photograph of the rock.

  • PDC

Shears. Often the efficient bit where the formation suits the cutters.

  • Roller cone

Crushes. Milled tooth for softer rock, carbide inserts for harder and more abrasive rock.

  • Opening

Hole openers and under-reamers, specified by the pilot hole and the final diameter.
