Well control
The stack that shuts the well in
A blowout preventer closes the borehole if formation pressure pushes fluid towards the rig. Pipe rams seal on one size of pipe. Blind rams close on an open hole. Shear rams are built to cut the pipe and seal. An annular preventer uses an elastomer and can close on a range of sizes. The photographs on this site are ram-type preventers. API Spec 16A is the usual preventer specification when you require it.
- Bore and working pressure are the start of the quotation.
- The choke manifold and the accumulator are separate machines in the same package if you want them.
- API Spec 16C covers choke and kill equipment when that standard is named.
